As I am the tīpuna for my mokopuna everything I do today will have an impact on their future as I am guided by my tīpuna that walked this whenua before me and continues to walk this whenua with me.
For most indigenous cultures they look to their ancestors to guide them and for us as Māori we are no different. Our tīpuna walk with us guiding us as we journey through life in te ao mārama. I am a great example of my tīpuna as what they taught me and the things I observed them doing is how I walk each day of my life, knowing that I stand in all my mana because of who they are.
The stands that our tīpuna took for us and the stands that we now make for our mokopuna will echo in those who come after us, so looking back to move forward is an amazing journey to take "ka mua, ka muri!"
